About

My name is Clancy Roberts, founder of Way-finder Field Skills. My connection to the outdoors began in childhood, trekking through the Tasmanian wilderness on multi-day hikes with my mother. Those early experiences sparked a lifelong passion for adventure—whether climbing rock faces, fishing wild rivers, or riding mountain bike trails, I’ve always sought challenge and freedom in nature.

That drive led me to join the military in 2003, where I served for 13 years across regular infantry and special operations. During my service, I completed three sniper qualifications—basic, advanced team leader, and special forces—each pushing my skills and resilience to the limit. These experiences forged not only tactical mastery but also a deep comfort and respect for the field environment.

After leaving the military, I faced the same challenges many veterans encounter: loss of purpose, structure, and belonging. I found healing in the outdoors, where stepping away from the noise of everyday life brought clarity and relief. This journey also strengthened my commitment to health and fitness, leading me to pursue clinical exercise physiology. My qualifications allow me to design evidence-based programs that support healthy aging, veteran rehabilitation, and elite performance.

Today, Way-finder Field Skills blends these worlds—adventure, tactical expertise, and exercise science. I believe that time off the grid is not only a way to de-stress but also a path to building resilience, confidence, and physical capability. Whether your goal is exploration, recovery, or peak performance, my mission is to share the lessons I’ve learned so you can step into the outdoors with safety, strength, and purpose.
